Deathwatch Codex Revealed! A Walk Down Memory Lane and My Collection
Oh it’s been a long, long time.
I will never forget the fevered anticipation of the Deathwatch codex I had, as well as my fellow hobbiests and players at the Bolter and Chainsword forums. Then the disappointment as the clunky mechanics, and seemingly rushed rules came to fruition. Soon there was hardly a Deathwatch player to be found. The competitive players quickly turned their noses up, and left the army without priming a fig! It was dark days indeed.
I was so excited; I splurged on the WatchFortress Collector’s Edition:
The Index didn’t help much. 8th edition Index days are well behind us but that is a time I felt like we were all on somewhat equal ground…. mostly equal.
But that’s all in the past! (I hope!) This week Gamesworkshop laid down the Deathwatch Codex reveals and some of it was not unexpected.
Before we really examine the new stuff, I’d like to share my old Deathwatch. Much of it has been sold, but I still have a lot of these models, and finished some replacements!
I don’t want to overload this post with images, so I think I’ll sign this one off with a print I ordered from Black Library at the launch of the Slaughter Novel series which explored the Ork attack on Terra, and the ensuing creation of the Deathwatch Chapter.
Hopefully I’ll be back with some new projects for Deathwatch and a closer look at the new rules!
Thanks for checking this out.
