Prot’s New Aeldari Craftwords (Eldar) for 2022: Part 1 Choosing Craftworld Colour Schemes.

Hello everyone, it’s been a while since I did an update, and frankly I’ve sold quite a few projects off. I’m down to my large Black Legion chaos army, and I had a lot of little bits, and partial units left over from various Eldar projects, and since I got the Eldritch Omens box set, I thought…. why not paint up the Eldar stuff I have and see where it goes?

Well that idea got away from me, and I did several repaints below:

This one was…. VERY purple, and I decided against it being too bright for my tastes at this time.
The I did a repaint, and moved back towards a scheme that I felt was just too close to my last Eldar army, and it gets boring fast (for me) repainting the exact scheme.
Then I did this one, and I kind of liked it. It reminded me of some Sci Fi movies I had been watching, but no… I had to try something a little ‘fancier’.
So I did another repaint, and tried to go with a more subdued, darker purple range, but it wasn’t quite doing it for me.

And this is where I decided that although a lot of friends really liked the blue/black hex pattern, I honestly was tired of it and wanted something that looked like a Sci-fi scheme, but it had to be… ‘gritty’. Most of my Eldar had just been too bright. So here is my new Craftworld:

Enough grit for my tastes, with some strong accents, and lighting. I do really like how this came out.
The Warwalkers are magnetized for flexible weapon swapping.

The new Ranger models are really good. A huge upgrade from the respectable former generation.

So there you have it. More to come, and I just got my first game in with the new codex. I’m leaning towards Ulthwe for now as they were the first Craftworld I ever did and Eldrad is… Eldrad!

Most importantly I can see doing this scheme for a while and I’ve written out the recipe after many tests, so this should be largely reproducible over a large variety of models!

Thanks for checking in!
